Ivory Coast Surfing Travels

The Ivory Coast in West Africa has some decent waves but you will have to go looking for them. San Pedro in the far west of the Ivory coast has some decent waves that break on the reefs and the beach breaks around the town of San Pedro. Grand Drewin is a nice right hand point that has some great tubes breaking off the point into the bay of Grand Drewin. The bottom is rocky reef with sand. Grand Drewin is near the town of Basa.

Going east still further, the town of Sassandra has some fairly good right hand reef breaks that give you some very nice tubing waves to get into. Dagbego has got a nice right hander breaking on a sandbar. Grand Lahou at the entrance to a river mouth has some pretty good waves breaking along a consistent beach break with good left and right waves breaking all along the beach. Grand Bassam is another beach break which has some good left and right waves breaking along the beach here. Assinie to the far east of the Ivory Coast is at the entrance to a river and has rights and lefts breaking on the beaches in the area of Assinie.
