Ghana West Africa Surfing Safari

Ghana in Western Africa has got lots of surfing breaks. And it is relatively easy to get around the country of Ghana compared to some of the surrounding countries of West Africa if you go in there looking for surfing breaks.

In the far west of the West African country of Ghana is the town of Axim. Quite near to Axim town center your will find heaps of beaches and reefs within walking distance. You will be sure to find one of the many breaks around Axim working if you go and visit looking for surf and waves to ride. Muktrakni Point has got some good reefs and beaches where the waves break in a variety of right and left configurations. Princes Town has got everything from beaches , reefs and a rivermouth. So if you cannot find a wave with all that variety then you need to get out more or you are not looking. Dixcove and Busua Beach are quite near to each other. Busua Beach has got some lefts and rights breaking on the beach break and if you are adventurous you can paddle out to the Busua Beach Island for some great right hand reef waves. Or you can get a lift from one of the locals in a boat. That would be my option.

Takoradi has got some juicy left and right waves breaking over the reefs and beaches around Takoradi. Fort Sebastian has got some nice rights breaking in front of the historic fort. The town of Elmina in Ghana has got some tubing right handers breaking off the point. Mumford has also got some nice right handers that break along the point at Mumford. Winneba and St Charles have got waves and you will find a nice right hander wave further east at Fort Good Hope near to Senia. Just up the road at fete, a small fishing village is one of the best waves in Ghana. It is a very tidy right hand point break wave that gets nice and tubing for the great waves that break there. Nanyanu has got some waves breaking in the rivermouth and at Krokrobite there is a right hand wave breaking on a sand and rock bottom. The final place for surfing is Ghana is Labadi Beach. The waves are a bit ordinary but it is an entertaining beach near to the capital of Ghana, Acra.
