Lost Trail Ski Resort

There are a number of double chairs which can be a bit slow at times. The ski resort is only open from Thursday to Sunday with some good tree skiing in areas. Day tickets are a reasonable $31. Lost Trail Powder Mountain usually has more than three hundred inches of snow with and average snow base of eighty inches. The highest elevation is 2500 meters with a vertical drop of 550 meters. Lost Trail has a skiable area of nearly four hundred hectared with three rope tows and five double chairs. The longest ski run is nearly two kilometers.

Turner Mountain

It takes about forty minutes to get to Turner Mountain from the town of Libby. The ski resort opens at about 9:30 am and it will most probably be uncrowded. There is only one double chair with some good tree skiing areas. They have food and drinks at the day lodge and also a ski rental shop. Day tickets are a very cheap $28 but they are only open from Friday until Sunday. Turner Mountain has a maximum elevation of 1814 meters with a vertical drop of 643 meters. The skiable area is 405 hectares but they have only one double chair. The longest run is more than three kilometers so your legs should be burning after going down that one.

Discovery Basin Ski Area

Discovery is ninety miles east of Missoula in southwestern Montana. Discovery has 2100 acres of skiable snow. An adult day ski pass is $32 and a season pass is around $460 for an adult. A half day is twenty four dollars. Discovery is serviced by the Easy Triple Chair, The Jubilee Double Chair, the Rumsey Double Chair, the Anaconda Triple Chair, the Granite Triple Chair, and the Limelight Double Chair. There is a vertical drop of 1670 feet and the highest point is at 8150 feet. The longest ski run is about a mile and a half. Discovery Basin Ski Area is situated within the Deer Lodge National Forest near Anaconda. The maximum elevation is 2484 meters with a vertical drop of 509 meters.

Blacktail Mountain Ski Area

Blacktail Mountain Ski Area is within the surrounds of a national Forest and has twenty four runs that are not crowded. The maximum elevation at Blacktail Mountain is 2067 meters with a vertical drop of 439 meters. The skiable area is about four hundred meters with an average annual snowfall of about six meters. There are four lifts at Blacktail Mountain - one surface lift, two double chair lifts, and one triple chair lift. The longest run goes for nearly three kilometers. Lift tickets cost $34 for an adult day ticket and $28 for a half day.
