There is no better feeling than skiing down a mountain flat out at full speed, carving nice turns and feeling the torque against the side of the skis and the snow. It is healthy and fun. And after a good days skiing you should be completely exhausted. The best part of it all is that you can follow the winter around the world. Ski in Europe from New Years and then when June comes you can go to the south to Australia, New Zealand or even South America. Some people even go to Kashmir to ski the Himalayas. If you want to stay in Europe you can ski the glaciers in summer like the one in Verbier in Switzerland which have snow all year round on top of the glacier. There is no better feeling than skiing. Get into it.

In Zermatt in Switzerland you can ski all year round on the glacier. In the middle of summer you might be in your shorts skiing down the slope. The snow may be a little slushy, mind you but you cannot have everything, or maybe you can in the snow. Perisher Valley in Australia is the largest ski resort in the southern hemisphere with four different resort areas - Perisher Valley, Guthega, Blue Cow, and Smiggins Holes. There are plenty of lodges and hotels right there on the slopes or you can stay down the mountain in the town of Jindabyne. The best way to get up the mountain is to get the skitube from Bullocks Flat. That way, you avoid the traffic and if it snows, you are spared the horrible job of putting chains on your two wheel drive car.

If you want a very cheap skiing adventure then Utah has a number of smaller ski resorts that offer very good value. These resorts include Beaver Mountain, Sundance, and Wolf Mountain. Prices for these resorts range from about $26 up to $38. Most of these ski resorts in Utah have only a few ski lifts and would be good for people on a budget and families who want an affordable skiing holiday.

Japan is the place to go skiing if you want to ski untracked champagne powder snow. There are hundreds of ski resorts in Japan and most are a very affordable option for skiers from around the world. Most of the Japanese ski resorts are located on the main island of Honshu and the main ones would be Hakuba, Shiga Kogen, Appi, and Zao. On the north Japanese island of Hokkaido make sure to visit the famous resorts of Niseko, Rusutsu, and Furano. Some say that the best powder can be found in Hokkaido while others want the steeper slopes of the Japanese Alps on the island of Honshu. You take your pick. You will be satisfied either way.

If you are a beginner at skiing first choose all your ski equipment like beanies, goggles, sunglasses, gloves. Then go to a professional boot fitter and get some boots that fit you properly. Ask the expert at the ski shop to adjust the bindings on your skis so that your boots will come out of the bindings if you have a nasty stack. Then it is up to the ski slopes where you learn to walk around on the skis, then sidetep up the beginner slopes and then face down the hill and come down. The first technique to learn is the snow plow which means putting the skis into a vee position and pushing against the inside edges of the skis. Then try a few basic snow plow turns and you are well onyour way to skiing enjoyment. Go and get some skiing lessons form a professional ski instructor to make things a lot easier for yourself.
