The Deserts of Jordan and Petra

When you go to Jordan to visit the deserts of Jordan and Petra you can first go to Amman the capital . The scenery is spectacular at petra and you can get a guide. You can take horses down the sik. at petra walk through a narrow passageway. The rose red city is as old as time. inside the treasury there are three small chambers where they used to bury their dead - the facade is magnificent. The workers who created it came down on ropes. The decoration is amazing and well preserved. Dismount from your steeds and and go and see a theater and a temple that were were carved into the rocks. It is not too steep. you can find coins on the ground if you are lucky that are from 300 AD. There are tremendous colours on the inside caves that were churches with inscriptions that were discovered in the 15th Century. In 47 AD it was converted into a byzantine cathedral.

The soil is red and sandy. The people are very traditional that live in the desert. The guest will receive a cup of tea. The people in the deserts of Jordan herd sheep and long-haired goats, and they live very simply. The nomads milk the goats. The people take the goats to look for food up in the hills and into the gullies or wadis. When the wind is blowing the checkered headresses keep the sand out of your eyes and mouth. The desert is a wide expanse, all sand with the towering mountains, you feel a certain stillnes and tranquility. You can enjoy a night in the desert under the stars with the tribesmen singing and playing the local lute.
