Nuremberg is in Bavaria and you can catch a train there that is super modern and even has a computer on board. Nuremberg is infamous as the place where they held the nazi war trials. Hitler also held massive rallies in this city of Nuremberg. This city was a powerful city for centuries and had a grand history since medieval times. Stand on the podium that hitler stood on and ranted at the german people. Or skateboard down the steps.

Ingolstadt is down south and is a small and beautiful town. This is where Frankenstein was set. You can go and have a tour that explains the relationship between the town of Ingolstadt and the story of Frankenstein. You can see the building that was haunted by a ghost who was buried into the walls of the house.

Munich is home to one of the world's most notorious parties. In 1810 a prince held a wedding party and it has never stopped since. The beer drinking is the central function of the octoberfest. The bavarian national food is the wurst or sausage. So eat up your wurst and drink lots of beer and put on heaps of weight. In the beer drinking kellars there are thousands of drunk people going off and acting like fools. What a fun day. The party goes from ten to ten every day. Octoberfest brings millions of dollars into the city so it is a major cash cow for the city. All sorts of things are lost each day , even husbands.

South of Munich are the german alps and Oberammergau. It is just across the border from Austria. Berchtesgarden is where hitler used to live. This is where hitler said he did his best thinking. Lots of nazi buildings were torn down. There is a museum that shows all the issues relating to the third reich. There is a wartime bunker left over from the second world war. This place allows the germans to analyse their past. East Germans were not taught about the atrocities done by the nazis. Oberammergau is one of the most beautiful towns in the german alps. Oversized window boxes and the neatest wood piles are features of oberammergau. Every ten years the town holds a passion play. Tradition dictates that the actors do not cut their hair until the last performance. Each performance lasts six hours. None of the actors are professionals and the actors have to leave their day jobs for an hour or so every day when it is on. The next one is in May 2010. The barbers do a roaring trade after the passion play is over.

Mountain climbing is popular in the german alps. get on a cable car to get to the top of a mountain. This is the easy part of the journey up the mountain. The scenery is beautiful and breath taking in the german alps. Some mountains rise over six thousand feet. The german alps are well organised for outdoor activities but it is a good idea to take a guide when you are mountain climbing in the german alps.
