Madrid Spain Adventures

The royal palace in madrid is one of the gems of this magnificent city. The winter palace has more than 1000 rooms. Spain is an old country and has lots of charm. Madrid has energy and fun. It is time for a full time fiesta. The main square has seen it all, weddings, execution. Madrid people love to come outside and enjoy life. Tapas is very spanish. The Prada Museum has one of the greatest art collections in the world, and for modern art go to the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

Madrid is the capital of Spain and the largest city in Spain. The river Manzanares flows through the city of Madrid and it is the center of government for the country of Spain. Madrid has preserved the look and feel of its historical buildings and is proud of its cultural and political pre-eminence. The Gran Via is the main shopping street and also has lots of tourist hotels and night entertainments such as movie theaters and live music plays.

After a tapas go back to the hotel for a siesta in the middle of the day. Marvellous Madrid has the Lido near to Madrid. Every stone tells you some history of the city that has gone on for more than 2000 years. Madrid was settled by the Romans, and then the Moors and the Castilians. Huertas or Barrio de las letras is the literary neighbourhood of Madrid where many top notch writers have lived or hung out with their writer mates. This is where the house of Cervantes(the writer of Don Quixote) lived and where he died in 1616. It is now a nightlife area with locals and tourists doing their promenade thing along the streets and hopping from bar to bar.

In 1850 the Teatro Real(Royal Theater) restored the Opera House. The Teatro Real is just in front of the Royal Palace which is the former home of the king. The Royal Palace is not open to the public and is a massive cultural monument. In 1631 the Buen Retiro park came into being. Spain is the ultimate playground with its ancient cities and warm culture that envelops and welcomes you with open arms. The Plaza de Colon celebrates the voyage of Christopher Columbus to America. Malasana has lots of lively bars and nightclubs that are full of young people having a night out and enjoying themselves and partying the night away.

Madrid has a Mediterranean climate with temperate weather. Winters can be cold, however and temperatures can get as low as zero degrees centigrade. Summmers in Madrid are warm with temperatures that usually hover around the thirty degrees centigrade mark. Madrid is at a high altitude and can be quite dry so the temperatures at night can be a bit cooler, so put on a jumper at night. It does not rain much in Madrid so your holiday will not be spoiled by constant downpours.
