Australian Vacations to Uluru

Ayer's Rock or Uluru is right in the center of Australia. It is in the state or territory called the Northern Territory. To get there you can catch a plane to Alice Springs from most Capital cities and then either catch a bus or hire a car to drive to Ayer's Rock. There are also direct flights to Ayer's Rock from Perth, Sydney, Cairns every day. From Melbourne there are direct flights to Uluru twice a week. Hiring a car in the Northern Territory can cost from sixty to one hundred and fifty dollars per day for a Nissan Patrol four wheel drive car. It is also called the red center as it is in the middle of a desert and the dirt is red. The spectacular scenery and the stars at night will blow your mind and bring you back to what is real.

There is a resort at Ayers Rock that can fulfill all your needs in whatever level of luxury or down to earth that you desire. The low season is from the first of April to the 30th June and the first September to the thirty first of march. Low Season is from July to August. I would recommend any time during our winter as it gets incredibly hot during the Southern Hemisphere summer. Also there is a period called the build-up in which the weather gets terribly oppressive which precedes the wet season. During the wet season, the rains pour down relentlessly. No sane Aussie goes up to the territory in the summer but winter is absolutely beautiful while down south everyone is freezing.

Uluru the aboriginal name for Ayer's Rock is 348 meters high and at ground level it takes 9.4 kilometers to walk around it. It is the most famous rock in the world and is best viewed at Sunset when the rock lights up. You can climb Ayer's Rock as well if you wish but it does require a lot of effort and is not recommended for people who are not fit. Make sure you start early in the morning as it gets stinking hot later in the day at Uluru. There are guided tours available, make sure you carry plenty of water and you can even tour the area with Harley Davidson motorcycles.
