Melacca Malaysia

Well here I am back in Melacca, Western Malaysia. At least it is nice and quiet after the heat and noise of Kuala Lumpur. I went and bought some yoghurt, bread, butter and some kaya(Malaysian palm sugar jam). I cannot wait until I start eating again. Back to the Mahkota Shopping Mall. That place haunts me. I had caught the 10 am bus from Puduraya bus station and arrived in Melacca at 12 - a 2 hour trip, not bad , hey. I could not get a bed at the Travellers Lodge(214B Taman Melaka Raya) so I kipped at Robin's Nest just down the road(Taman Melaka Raya - 205B). I paid the rent for the night before but not for the rest. I went for a swim at 9 a.m. at the Pool and sat around all day doing nothing. I could not sleep for all the scratching - it is bites or prickly heat. I got some herbal pill and cream for it but it is still annoying me. It turned out to be bed bugs. If you stay at some place and start itching like mad and scatching it is bed bugs - get out of there and find another hotel. I finally got some sleep after 3 days of bed bug hell.

In Melacca I had lots of fun with Roy the mad Canadian and Sacha the Dutch bastard(just joking). We went swimming at the Melacca Pool near the museum and we just lazed around and talked and talked. I could not sleep because of this dick dude tossing and turning with the light on in the next room. It was the worst nights sleep ever. I was so crapped off but I remembered the Budhist rave about being happy and generous in trying and difficult circumstances - I tried but it was difficult. In Melacca we went for a swim in the evening with a Japanese lady and then had noodle soup before watching "Soldiers" at the hotel. Must remember to book hostel in Singapore. I got my photos at 8 pm, photocopied some CD covers , got some mosquito repellant and booked my seat on the bus to Singapore.

The next day I went and had noodle soup for breakfast at the Chinsese restaurant downstairs for Ringgit 2.90. I then took some photos of an old airplane, bull-cart, and Chinese wedding and then took the photos to be developed at the Mahkota - Rm 21.60. I came back to the hostel and read the newspaper. At 1.00 pm I went to the bus terminal and bought my ticket to Singapore and walked around the Hong Tuah Plaza but they did not have anything - came back to the Mahkota and had claypot mee soup and changed 40,000 Rupiah to Ringgit and went back the Melacca Hotel to watch "Small Soldiers".
