Kuala Terengganu

kuala terangganu malaysia

Kuala Terangganu is the capital of the Malaysian state of Terangganu. The most interesting place there is Palau Duyung, just across the river from the main town center. You can get a ferry across the river from anywhere on the river steps. On the island they still make boats in the traditional way from wood. The boat-builders make their boats without any plans and their skills have been passed down from generation to generation. Chendering, six kilometers from Kuala Terengganu is the site of the Malaysian Handicraft Center which has batik, songket, vases, and bags made from pandanus leaves.

Kuala Terrangganu - what a weird place - not the town, the place I stayed at - Awi's Yellow House. The alcoholic Englishman kicked the cat into the river and the sulking frenchman goest to the rescue of the poor little puddy-tat. Yobbo NZ'ers questions drunken Englishman's sexuality(who incidentally is as camp as a row of tents) and gets blasted for being a typical p***ter-bashing Australian yobbo and that is why Australians and New Zealanders have such a bad reputation for being loud mouth insensitive dick heads - which is true.

Shall I tell you of the escape from the dreaded couple from hell - the boring stupid boy and girl who have been to India and do not have a brain cell between them. I made my exit at 7 a.m. only to find that I had to wait until 1.45 pm for a bus. So back to the terminal and 1 pm goes I, only to see (horror horror) the couple with another mythical couple - Ken and Barbie - the plastic blow-up companions.
Question. What is worse than one couple ?
Answer. Two couples having a dinner party.
Two places to stay at in Kuala Terangganu is the Ping Anchorage(upstairs at 77A Jalan Dato Isaac) and Awi's Yellow House(Pulau Duyung). The Cultural Center is open on Fridays from 5 to 6.30 for Pencak Silat and wayang. To get the bus from Cherating to Kuala Terangganu catch the bus to Kemaman/Cukai Terminal.
