Kuala Lumpur Travel Tourism

I am sitting in the hotel at Backpackers Travellers Inn, 60 Jalan Sultan, Kuala Lumpur, in the dormitory, surrounded by all these Japanese people. The were not very friendly at first but they are starting to warm up. I went to the Batu Caves and expected them to be really crap but it was strangely nice and peaceful, sitting by Kali's temple inside the cave. Yesterday I arrived in Kuala Lumpur via the Pekeliling Railway Station from Jerantut and caught the light rail to Plaza Rakyat. We went to the market that night. They have watches, T-shirts, DVD's - all sorts of stuff.

The second time here in Kuala Lumpur we stayed at the Odyssy Backpackers at 46 Silang Street, Kuala Lumpur which was just being renovated. We went for breakfast at Chinatown and talked to an Indonesian waiter. Heaps of them work in restaurants - they get brought over as domestic maids and then work in restaurants. It is illegal and they pay them crap wages. I suspect there is a lot of illegal immigration and they get paid very low wages and if they complain they get threatened with exposing to the immigration. When I caught the ferry from Melacca to Dumai in Sumatra, there were heaps of illegal immigrants being deported and at the Indonesian harbour the cops were beating the crap out of all the illegals coming back.

I went to the Sunway Lagoon for the surfing of man-made waves. The Sunway Lagoon is in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, a fair way out of Kuala Lumpur. Buses to Petaling Jaya and Sunway Lagoon run from the Klang bus station in Kuala Lumpur. Their blurb on the website states - "Wait no more! Head down to the coolest, newest and most happening place in town- the Sunway Surf Beach!" I met these Malaysian surfers - Ganesh, the Indian dude, Mark ("Forest Gump"), the lifeguard and this Chinese guy. They were really nice guys and super friendly and just like surfers all over the world were stoked on surfing. They are going to Cherating on the East coast at midnight tomorrow night. I don't know if I will go with them yet. Sacha got his fortune told by some big Chinese guy (Cong Gi Fa Cai) - it was very funny.

On my third trip to Kuala Lumpur I got the bus from the Cameron Highlands and was very tired. I went back to the Odyssey Backpackers and got a dorm bed. Then I went to Jalan Bukit Bintang and Imbi Plaza (Jalan Imbi) and got some more CD's. Guess how much CD's cost to make? 50 cents. Wow they make heaps of profit. I went and had my first macdonald-san and met Kaari this Japanese girl from Odyssey. The quote of the year comes from Stewart - "Excuse me, I am having trouble feigning interest".
