Kuala Krai Northen Malaysia Jungle Trip

I had to get up early to catch the bus to Kuala Krai. There was a bunch of wankers there with a guide to go on this big jungle trek. I don't know how much they paid - bodoh! I found the boat to Dubong eventually. Man talk about the Mekong Delta trip. They had the shallow draught boat - long and raked and very narrow - low gunwhales, with a huge donk (car motor) in the back with the long tailshaft with a propeller attached. The petrol engine was like some V8 Chevvy motor or something huge like that.

Anyway, up we go up this river which has wild jungle on each side and there are boats coming coming down the river - long, narrow things. It is like something out of a vietnam war movie - Mekong Delta Strike Force! - way cool. I got a sore bum cause it was so cramped and had wooden seats. I kept expecting a helicopter gunship to come around the ridge and start strafing us. Anyway, we got to Dabong and it is this tiny little village, all pretty and stuff but the people are acting very weird. They must see heaps of tourists - white people and such - but they are so freaked out by white people , or was it just me?

I waited hours for the stupid train from hell and i Had to stand for ages - no-one talks to you, even if you try and say hello and say something they still won't talk. Are they just ignorant or is it a cultural thing? I finally got to Pasir Mas and caught the bus back to Kota Baru which was crowded because everyone was coming home from Hari Raya. The next day, Sunday all my muscles are so sore and I am exhausted after the excursion into darkest hell. I had a nice breakfast - a Mee Bak So sort of noodle soup.
