Jaisalmer Rajasthan India

Jaisalmer is the the far north-west of India in the state of Rajasthan. It has a fort that is straight out of the tales of the Arabian nights. It is on the edge of the rasthani desert next to the pakistani border. There is a medieval fort that is still used and is a golden city that is unique built in by the Jaisalmer rulers. Little has changed and you can pick up a few ethnic bargains. You can get your hands painted with Henna, a red muddy dye. During the wedding men and women get painted with henna. You can go for a camel trek for a few days. The people at the hotel will sell you the camel trek for a few dollars a day.

They have cute little nubian goats and the sandstone carvings on the fort are incredible. The sunsets are red and wild. You can get a Bhang lassi, a yoghurt drink at a store that is run by the government. You can buy a bhang lassi for about fifty cents. Jaisalmer is in the middle of the desert and the view from the Jaisalmer fort in the early mornings is magnificent. Jaisalmer was founded around 1156 as a safe place to build a fort.

Camel Safaris in Jaisalmer are a big favourite with tourists and travellers. You can go out on the camels and meet the villagers and see the real desert inhabitants doing their thing. They wear colorful turbans and the women wear lots of jewellery. A camel ride through the deserts of Rajasthan is an exotic experience that you need to do.
