Halong Bay Vietnam

To get to Halong Bay in Vietnam you can fly from most capital cities to Ho Chi Minh City and then get a connection to Hanoi. In Hanoi you can stay in the Hanoi Daewoo Hotel which is about three hours drive from Halong City. The weather is mostly humid with releiving showers most days. Accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City costs about $30. You will need to check if you need a visa and you will probably have to pay up to $50 for one.

Halong Bay can have variable weather and during the summer months, a shower will cool the climate down considerably. Halong Bay has nearly two thousand islands scattered around it. You have to make your way through dense foliage to get into it and once inside it is spectacular with piles upon piles of stalactites and stalagmites and spooky waters beneath.

To have the adventure of a lifetime in Vietnam you can go on a 38 meter Junk such as the Halong Ginger. This three deck junk is built of solid rosewood, and is very luxurious. You can board it at Halong City, where it is berthed. Two days on the Halong Bay junk can cost about $200. You can also go kayaking on Halong Bay and be more flexible and free to do as you please and when you please. Paddle inside the caves and see hidden valleys and beaches. Stop and have a swim or do some bush-walking or mountain climbing.
